MAP’s Director of Sustainability, Sara Bayer, was honored as one of Crain’s New York Business 2024 notable leaders in sustainability. She discusses Passive House standards, design strategies, recent studies, electrification, energy recovery ventilators, and how the architectural industry can move towards carbon-neutral, healthy buildings.

“Policymakers and government agencies are taking notice and as they set climate benchmarks… they are supporting the few percentage points of increased upfront construction costs through incentive programs like NYSERDA’s Buildings of Excellence and IRA funding. Another benefit of these lower energy-use buildings is that the cost of our renewable grid can be dramatically smaller. So building Passive House buildings saves us all money.” Bayer says.
