Located on the site of the former St Joseph Parish church in the Bronx, this affordable and supportive housing is being developed by the Association of New York Catholic Homes and New York Institute for Human Development, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of New York, as part of their decades-long mission to transform church properties into strong, sustainable communities through affordable housing.
The large building has been divided in two, with different supportive programs occupying opposite sides, while the remaining family units are spread evenly between them. The two wings share a common entrance with glazed elevator lobbies stacked above. The glassy, light-filled spaces create a vertical break in the massing while providing a visual connection from the sidewalk to the shared landscaped courtyard within. Each building also has their own amenities including laundry rooms, community rooms, and bicycle storage.
